Download complete sets from Flickr

If you’re an avid Flickr user I’m sure the idea of downloading complete sets of images has crossed your mind once or twice. Personally, I think Flickr should come out with an official application for users to backup data. I read a few months back that an official backup service was in the works. Something about having all your images archived to a DVD. For a small price I’m sure.

If you’re looking for something to hold you over until Flickr settles into their new California headquarters, check out Mark Jen’s ‘Downloadr’ application. It’s a very early release (v0.1). It works. You can download complete sets from Flickr as long as the images are set to ‘Public’. I have a few sets of 120+ images of which 15 or so are public. Unfortunately the application was only able to grab the ‘Public’ images. The great part is that the original images are downloaded, not the lower quality versions.
