Macworld: Leave the Laptop at home, the MCopy

Posted in Apple, Tech by Dan at 11:54 am

My focus at Macworld is to try and find the cool gizmos and gadgets that get little to no coverage. The MCopy and MBridge are two of those products.

What the MCopy basically does, is allow you to plug in any two devices into the devices dual USB ports and transfer media. For example, you have some MP3’s on your iPod and you want to get it on your PSP, you can easily do that using the MCopy. But the REALLY COOL feature is that you can copy unprotected music from iPod to iPod. Hmmmm, think of the possibilities.

On the other hand, the MBridge a product that really blew me away. Here I am lugging my 15″ POWERBOOK (I will never call my new laptop a MacBook) so I can get internet access to post my pictures and movies for this site. Instead of carrying almost 10 pounds of weight the MBridge solves all my problems. It is a Wi-Fi enabled handheld, that has one USB port on it. The device interfaces with Flickr, MSNphotos, Snapfish, Shutterfly. And with a few clicks you can upload the pictures from your docked camera to any of the above services. The developers said they are also working on a way to have the device interact with a normal FTP server so you can upload to blogs. Music support is also being built into the MBridge. The developers envision the ability to update your iPod on the fly by accessing web based music stores, such as ALLOFMP3.

The operating system is a extremely customized version of Linux. For more information visit them at http://www.uniconsys.com, or email info@uniconsys.com. Tell them UNEASYsilence sent you.
