Posted in Cool, Howto, Revisited, Tech by Derek at 10:00 am

As if I wasn’t sold on the service already, Box offered an exclusive peak at it upcoming desktop Sync utility. UNEASY featured an exclusive pre re-launch of the Box.net service a few months back: Preview Scoop: Box.net online file storage.

Box.net’s desktop software was made to simplify uploading and synchronizing your files and folders with Box.net. Now you can always have your latest files safely backed up in your account, so they are accessible on a whim or in an emergency.

Box.net is currently adding the icing to a desktop client which offers registered users an automated Sync service of important files directly to Box servers. That’s right! Pain-free file backups. Here’s the rundown on the upcoming client:

  • Automated, automated, “look ma’ no hands!” automated backups. Specify multiple folders on your hardrive to be uploaded to your personal Box account. Set automated backups to run daily, every 2 days, every 3, every week, etc. In addition, specify the time of day uploads are to begin saving your daytime connection.
  • Manually upload single files or entire folders using your right-click desktop menu. File sharing is a breeze. Send files to friends and family or upload to share and receive a unique URL to pass out to contacts.
  • Create new folders within your Box account directly from the desktop client. Backup and save crucial files without the need to open a single browser window.

Rest assured that an OSX version is in the works. Register your own free Box.net account in order to make use of the upcoming desktop client today! Feel free to drop any questions concerning the desktop client in the comments.

I want that app! Trying to find the download button somewhere on the site…
And this looks like a great service for backing up my pictures!

  2. The application will be out shortly. Box is just making sure it’s all polished before release.
