YouTube plans to show every music video ever created

Posted in AV by Dan at 12:00 pm

The extremely popular video sharing site, YouTube, is in talks with record labels about offering current and archived music videos. The founder of YouTube is working to have within 18 months “…every music video ever created”.

How much per se? It planned to offer the videos free of charge.

I’m almost positive this will piss off Apple who is currently selling music videos for $1.99 a pop.

What are you thoughts on this? Is YouTube going to pull it off, or will they hemorrhage money so badly this could be the beginning of the end for the company as Apple beefs up it’s music offerings.

Charging for a Music Video is messed up,so Apple deserves to get their ass kicked.

And I think Youtube COULD pull it off,but I can’t really think that they will be able to.

There must be millions of videos out there. Techno, Rock, House, R’n'B, Country, Trance, Drum’n'Bass. You wouldn’t be able to get your head around all those videos. I’m sure they’ll manage to get tons of videos, but surely not “all”.

I can predict that when all of this is over, it’s that 80’s video you’ve wanted so long to see again that they wouldn’t have gotten their hands on.

I collect music videos i’m not too excited about this seing how the quailty of youtube videos is crap. The video quailty from itunes is crap too but at least youtube will be free crap.

I predict that in the next few years services like Napster, Yahoo Music, Raphodsy and the new Urge will eventully offer mucic videos in the same all you can eat high quailty downloadable subscription format that they now do for music alone.

Yeah it’ll be awesome if they manage to get a decent amount of those videos up even if they are of poor quality, as many music videos are hard to find. Still I ain’t that excited and can’t really see it working.

Check out LyFox at http://www.fernyb.net/ you can use this to get high quality videos and they have a huge range, only downside is the low resolution of 320×240 but you can’t really expect much better for free! :P

  5. I like Yahoo Music Videos the best, but the selection sucks sometimes. I really like how you can get 700k using LyFox, thanks UNEASY for that, you rock :)

I am in the music video and commercial making busniess, and I am gathering a nice collection of music videos for reference, and entertainment.

  6. You Tube might not have the best videos, but it makes adding them to webpages and things like MySpace so easy. It can be ok quality if the uploader knows what they are doing.

  7. “Per se”, not “per say”.

Wherever this deal goes, it’s probably almost definitely something that will “make or break” You Tube. I tend to think it’ll be closer to the “make”.

well, couple this with video downloader extension, and I’m set for quite some time :D

Youtube offers videos, not only music videos to watch, it saves money, so who’s complaining? But the problem is…now where I come from, Youtube’s blocked. Does anybody know a website very similiar to Youtube?
